Leka Dereviankina is a multidisciplinary artist working across drawing, sculpture, and installation. Her work is shaped by interests in physics, biology, and the human experience of time. She explores human presence and behavior; through quiet observation in everyday public spaces, she seeks to understand and capture what it means to be human in contemporary society—how we occupy space, relate to one another, and navigate moments of solitude, distraction, and connection in an increasingly fast-paced and technologized world. Her projects often involve collaborations with researchers and international communities. She combines scientific research with poetic reflection.
Leka Dereviankina (b. 1989) trained in architecture MArch Architecture, National Aviation University, Kyiv, Ukraine, and traditional Japanese arts advanced course in Ikebana, awarded the traditional title of Kaiden, Ikenobo School, Kyoto, Japan.
Since 2015, Leka has presented several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous collaborative projects. Her work has been shown in exhibitions and festivals across Europe and Japan. Her solo exhibitions include Time Studies at Bierumer School, Netherlands (2024), and What (do) I see. (?) What (do) I think. (?) at NADiff Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2016).
Leka has also taken part in group exhibitions and public projects, including Project 3578 at Gallery Art Lab Akiba, Tokyo, Japan (2018), and Happens Every Day, a series of large-scale drawings presented at the Noorderzon Festival, Groningen, Netherlands (2023).
Additional projects include Flormotos at the Green Festival in Kamoi Shimin no Mori Forest, Yokohama, Japan (2017), and Home Portraits, an online portrait project presented by SPIRAL Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2019). She also participated in Kids Guernica and Third Paradise, a collaborative environmental community project in Kawauchi Village, Fukushima, Japan (2018). In addition, Leka performed with Yuki Kobayashi at Velvet Sun, Tokyo, Japan (2018).
